Soldier | Athlete | Farmer is an online extension of the preaching and teaching ministry of the Rev. Ken R. Honken. Rev. Honken was ordained on October 2, 2008 as a minister of the Word in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
As the homepage indicates, Soldier | Athlete | Farmer takes its name from 2 Timothy 2:3-6, where the apostle Paul likens the work of ministers to that of soldiers, athletes, and farmers. This text, used in the charge given to Rev. Honken at his ordination, is an especially appropriate source for the title of his blog because he formerly worked as a rural pastor for 5 years, currently serves as a Chaplain in the Army National Guard, and enjoys running to stay fit for duty.
When not working in ministry, Rev. Honken is slowly progressing on a Master of Theology in Old Testament (with special focus on Leviticus).
